What can we say – our inaugural SOUP dinner was bonkers successful. Thanks to the three projects that presented: Commonbreath Media, Ferndale Farm and the grant winner, The Mower Gang. Check out FerndaleSOUP.com for more details and apply yourselves. See you back here on February 19th at 6:30pm. Photos by Alan Languirand.
Ferndale SOUP Was A Huge Success!

December 15th, 2011 | New! Exciting! | Andy | Comments Off
College sucks. You sign up for a major and go through a ton of prerequisite garbage for a couple years before you even get started on what you went there for in the first place. We always wanted to get straight to the meat while we wasted away in some crap “Intro to The Human Experience” supposed-to-give-you-a-cultured-upbringing filler class. So we’re doing our own thing. Introducing two spectacular classes: In January, we have “Don’t Fear The Dial” with Alan Languirand teaching you how to start taking photos or take better ones if you already do. To kick off February, we’ve got Tom Nardone’s “Start Up: Plan Your Own Business So You Can Make The Rules” business plan class which will arm you with the simple tips, hard-earned knowledge and the boatload of moxie you’ll need to get your own venture off the ground and making money. Head over here to get the skinny.
Here Comes Ferndale SOUP! – Get Your Applications In Now

We came away so impressed with the spectacular efforts changing communities at Detroit SOUP, Soup at Spaulding and others that we had to bring this concept to Ferndale. The premise is that you show up, pay your five little dollars and get soup, salad, bread and pie to munch on while you listen to the pitches of three or four facilitators that hope to get their project funded. It’s democratic communism (wait, what?) at its finest.
All in all, it’s a great atmosphere that’ll leave you motivated to go out and conquer your own dreams – or think up a hearty pitch to lob at the congregation next month. We’ll be holding theses dinners every 3rd Sunday; starting with January. Head here to get more details or apply to be a presenting project.
Sprouting Incubators
August 2nd, 2011 | Uncategorized | michelle | Comments OffAs this article suggests on foxbusiness.com, there is room for startups to grow, specifically, food startups. Maybe its because we live in the Motor City, but we’ve started with an auto centric incubator. (We’re also developing labs for metal workers, wood workers, photographers, graphic designers, jewelers, ….) Food startups are cool too though.

Paper Street Motors and the soggy Dream Cruise
August 22nd, 2010 | Uncategorized | Andy | Comments OffYeah, we tried. We showed up, we tented up and we were rained out for most of the day. The last 20% was pretty awesome as the clouds broke and some crowds started walking through – but ultimately the PSM tent was not unlike a Frosted Mini Wheat that was left in the bowl a [...]
